Introduction to Epics & FAQ

Epic equipment is among the most powerful in the game, but can also be a bit daunting to craft if you’re uninformed. Fortunately for you, class is in session! Make sure to bring your illithid-proof thinking cap!

Wherezeit?

The Altar of Epic Rituals is in the Twelve to the right of The Stone of Change.

Shopping List

  • The base item
  • Corresponding scroll, not bound, dropped by monsters like collectible bags
  • Corresponding seal (BTA) which drops in loot chests
  • Corresponding shard (BTA) which drops in the epic chest

Doing “The Deed”

Take all the above 4 items, drop them in the Epic Altar and click forge!

Augment Slots

Epic items come out with empty augment slots. By adding a crystal to the appropriate augment slot, you can increase the power of your epic items by adding additional properties. The type of epic item determines what color augment slot is has, which determines which upgrades can be added to that slot.

Getting Your Crystals

Crystals are purchased with Epic Tokens. Speak to Misty next to the Altar of Epic Rituals in the Twelve. Depending on what you’re looking for, it’ll cost a number of Dungeon and/or Raid Tokens. You can purchase the exact crystal you want to upgrade, it’s not random like the Dragontouched Armor.

Acquiring Epic Tokens

There are two major types of epic tokens

  • Epic Dungeon Token Sits on top of the epic chest whole or in fragments, from quests.
  • Epic Raid Token Sits on top of the epic chest whole, only from raids.

You’ll also find Epic Dungeon Token Fragments in the purple monster drop bags in both raids and dungeons. 100 of these fragments can be forged in the Altar of Epic Rituals to form a complete Dungeon Token.

Acquiring Scrolls

Scrolls are very, very rare monster drops. Instead of a purple bag sometimes, you’ll have a scroll drop. Unlike the collectible bag that everyone can collect, once someone picks a scroll up, no other player can pick it up. Scrolls are not bound in any way.

Acquiring Shards & Seals

Seals drop from loot chests in epic missions/raids. Shards drop only from the epic chest. They BTA.

Resetting Your Item

Place your epic item in the altar with 3 dungeon tokens to clear it. (Technically, it destroys the item and recreates it.)

You may want to reset it for a couple reasons:

  • You may have accidentally used the wrong crystal or want a new one in its place
  • Will unbind it if it’s attuned
  • The item has been Dev upgraded and you want the new version of the item

Going a step further…

Now that you have an epiced item, let’s throw some more upgrades into it with crystals!
